Motion to Convene in Executive Session
I move that the City Council Personnel Committee convene in Executive Session
to discuss performance evaluations for certain Council Appointed Officers,
specifically the City Clerk, Director of Finance, Director of Real Estate Valuation,
and Municipal Auditor, pursuant to Section 2.1-344 (A)(1), Code of Virginia,
(1950), as amended.

AN ORDINANCE establishing compensation for the City Manager, City Attorney,
Director of Finanoe, Dir~tor of Real Estate Valuation, Municipal Auditor and City Clerk for
the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1998; and providing for an emergency and an effec6ve date.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Roanoke as follows:
1. For the fiscalyear beginning July l, 1998, and ending June 30, 1999, and for
succeeding fiscal years unless modified by ordinance duly adopted by this Council, the
annual salaries of Council-appointed officers shall be as follows:

Any increase in compensation due to any officer or employee under this
Ordinance shall be first paid with the paycheck of July 8, 1998.
3. This ordinance shall remain in effect until amended or repealed by ordinance
duly adopted by City Council.
4. In order to provide for the usual daily operation of the municipal government,
an emergency is deemed to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect on and
after July I, 1998.
