Nelson Harris John H. Parrott Carroll E. Swain James O. Trout William White, Sr. Linda F. Wyatt The Honorable Mayor and Members of the Roanoke City Council Roanoke, ,Virginia Dear Members of Council: We have been in the process of planning for our upcoming visioning workshops over the past several weeks and thanks to your input, we are ready to propose a schedule of times and a location. It is our understanding that Ms. Parker discussed these dates with each of you sometime ago. We initially wanted to convene the sessions away from Roanoke to allow each of us the benefit of distancing ourselves from our day to day demands; however, out of town plans have proven to be impractical. Therefore, we would like to propose that we hold the sessions at The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center. The following schedule is suggested: Thursday, July 18, 1996 Convene at 5:30 p.m. Break for dinner at approximately 6:30 p.m., and reconvene until 9:00 p.m. Friday, July 19, 1996 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 1996 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. All sessions will be held in the Monroe Room. H:~OUNCIL~WORKSHOP.WPD The Honorable Mayor and Members of the Roanoke City Council July 3, 1996 Page 2 As in most worthwhile pursuits, we all benefit from our involvement based on the depth and the quality of that involvement. We feel strongly that we are all equal partners in developing, sharing and supporting our visioning process to date. It is hoped that the upcoming visioning workshops will allow each of us to focus on the task of setting a common direction for our community and for City government. Thank you for your willingness to participate in the workshops and to participate in the dialogue from beginning to end. Hopefully, we will create an environment at the Conference Center that will allow us to spend some very meaningful time together. Please feel free to call us if you have questions.
