I have discussed this with Sally Coleman our Vice Chairman and she has agreed to fill in for me. I regret that I can not be there, but this has been on my calendar for too long to change on short notice. Please give my regards to the other members of Council and the City Administration and thank our legislators on my behalf for the outstanding work that they do for the City of Roanoke School System. Mayor Taylor and I have discussed the format for the legislative meet- ing, and it has been agreed to try a new format which will provide for more participation by members of Council and hopefully result in better communication with our legislators. The idea is to have each Council member select a legislative matter and make a 3-4 minute pre- sentation with respect to the matter. Thereafter, the legislators will be asked to respond to the particular legislative item. Council members will be encouraged to ask questions of our legislators. Please give some thought to the legislative matter you would like to present; I will be calling you on this as quickly as possible. I have been advised that the legislative meeting has been moved from the Council Conference Room to the Civil Defense Room. In past years, it has been very difficult for all the Council members, School Board members, legislators and City officials to find space around the table in Council's Conference Room, and the move to the Civil De- fense Room should provide more space for all participants. I believe you will be receiving an official notice of the change in place from the Mayor. I look forward to seeing you at the legislative meeting.
