Bowles and Beverly T. Fitzpatrick, Jr., for terms of four years each beginning July 1, 1988, and ending June 30, 1992. A Resolution recognizing the Honorable Beverly T. Fitzpatrick, Jr., to be a member of the City Council and Vice-Mayor of the City of Roanoke. A Resolution commending the service of the Honorable Howard E. Musser as Vice-Mayor of the City of Roanoke. Adjournment. June 30, 1988 The Honorable Mayor and Members of Roanoke City Council Roanoke, Virginia Dear Mrs. Bowles and Gentlemen: Pursuant to Section 10, Meetings of Council, of the Roanoke City Charter, the Council will hold its Organizational Meeting on Tuesday, July 5, 19&8, at 2:00 p.m., in the Council Chamber. Due to a scheduling conflict, Council is requested to open the Organizational Meeting at 2:00 p.m., in the Council Chamber, and, by motion, reconvene in the Council's Conference Room. The Board of Zoning Appeals publicly advertised a meeting to be held on Tuesday, July 5, 1988, at 2:00 p.m, in the Council Chamber and, due to certain agenda items, the Board expects to have a number of citizens in attendance. FITZPATRICK, JR. to be a member of the City Council and Vice-Mayor of the City of Roanoke. WHEREAS, the Honorable Beverly T. Fitzpatrick, Jr. received the largest number of votes of any candidate running for Council in the regular Councilmanic election held on the second Tuesday in May, 1988, and was, therefore, elected Vice-Mayor of the City for a term which commences July 1, 1988, as provided by $4 of the Charter of the City of Roanoke; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Council of the City of Roanoke that The Honorable Beverly T. Fitzpatrick, Jr. be, and he is hereby recognized to be a duly elected member of the Council of said City for a term commencing on the first day of July, 1988, and continuing for a period of four years and until his successor shall have been elected and qualified, and to be-the duly elected Vice-Mayor of the City for a term commencing the first day of July, 1988, and con- tinuing for a period of two years and until his successor shall have been elected and qualified. A RESOLUTION commending the service of the HONORABLE HOWARD MUSSER as Vice-Mayor of the City of Roanoke. WHEREAS, the Honorable Howard E. Musser was elected Vice- Mayor of the City of Roanoke by virtue of receiving the largest number of votes in the Councilmanic election held on the first T sday of May, 1986, and served in this office from July 1, 1~ 8, to June 30, 1988; and WHEREAS, Mr. Musser served with honor and distinction as Vice-Mayor, giving selflessly of his time to perform the many responsibilities required of him as Vice-Mayor, and at the same time promptly and efficiently discharged his other duties on the City Council; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Roanoke as follows: 1. The Mayor and Members of this body do hereby recognize and commend the Honorable Howard E. Musser, for his outstanding service as Vice-Mayor of this City and assure him of their con- tinued support as he continues to serve as a Member of Council. 2.
