1. Call to Order — Roll Call - Council Members Bestpitch, Ferris, and
Trinkle were absent
2. Invocation — Mayor Sherman P. Lea, Sr.
3. Purpose of Special Meeting — "Neighborhood Solidarity
Walk."
4. Procession to 1002 Moorman Road, N. W.
The walk began at intersection of 51" Street and Moorman Road, N. W. and
concluded in the parking area adjacent to Hamlar -Curtis Funeral Home
located at 1002 Moorman Road, N. W.
5. Comments from Mayor Lea and Chief Timothy Jones at
Hamlar -Curtis Property.
Mayor Lea charged and encouraged the citizens to commit 60 days,
starting June 1, to no violence in the City of Roanoke. He gave an
emotional call to the community to take action against violence.

hereby call a Special Meeting of Council for Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 6:00 p.m., and
provide you with notice of such meeting, via e-mail and hand-delivery. The Special
Meeting is for the purpose of holding a "Neighborhood Solidarity Walk" to promote
neighborhood safety.
The neighborhood walk will begin at the intersection of 50 Street and Moorman Road,
N.W., and conclude in the parking area adjacent to Hamlar -Curtis Funeral Home located
at 1002 Moorman Road, N. W.
