• Different way of looking at objectives that have different activities and
identify gaps

the current national environment and issues

the response to gun violence. Are we assessing the other areas and

3. The need to review safer neighborhoods, lighting and the
environments themselves for review (IE Downtown, high crime
neighborhoods)

1. Meeting the last Fri of the month. Last June 25th next July 30th
2. Voted to fund FSRV in new FY for programming; FSRV will take
TOPS and adapt to where it is relevant to the community; Diversity
and Inclusion will be incorporated into the TOPS program as well as
feelings, brain science, self-efficacy, resource awareness, providing
new experiences, healthy relationships, positive images and role
models
3. Partner with safer neighborhoods and have youth take care of their
own communities

2. Bid proposal for helping develop and implement the assessment and
plan

5. Looking at a portal for re-entry help/aid and reducing gun violence
• Stacey Sheppard, Rapid Response-
1. Carilion meeting coming this week to plan being the catalyst
for movement and protocol being created for a coordinated
community response and meetings being held with trauma
services and emergency services went well to get things
accomplished
2. Reported that FEDUP and the team is working to help write
the by-laws forms and paperwork is in process to get 501c3.
Shakira is working to ensure the process is completed. The
committee is working to finish the FEDUP incorporation.
3. Stacey and Shakira mentioned on-going recruiting efforts for
volunteers for rapid response.

1. a RFP was developed for distribution to seek media partners for bids
for marketing. It will be in phases,
work/messaging/prevention/volunteers/PR campaign to gain
visibility.

Grants • Joe Cobb reported on no-updates as to the 500k, for 2 years for work on
prevention and intervention efforts on gang violence and gun violence
• To include the hiring of Gang Violence Prevention Coordinator and two
outreach personnel

• AACCI- culture class at William Fleming
Polly Branch- Community Arts Reach (founded by Bernadette Lark)

• Art, and theater setting for engaging questions for gun violence
• Youth are using music, art, and poetry to work through issues of
violence
Donna Robinson- Café Arts; Camp report (3 weeks)
• Horses, Alpacas, Homestead Creamery, Fitness/Nutrition lessons,
Cooking, Health risk conversations, children got an exercise packets
with equipment, financial literacy with planning and purchasing,
speakers weekly, highlighting careers, anger mgt. and conflict resolution
classes weekly, gardening. A panel discussion with community leaders.
