MOON Deputy City Clerk The Honorable Mayor and Members of Roanoke City Council Roanoke, Virginia Dear Mayor Smith and Members of Council: The Council's Budget/Financial Planning Session is scheduled for Saturday, March 10 at 8:30 a.m., in Shenandoah Room A at The Hotel Roanoke which is located across from the Regency Room. Free parking is available in the First Union Tower Parking Garage and you may use the pedestrian bridge for access to the hotel. If you elect to park at the hotel, daily parking charges are $5.00, or $7.00 for valet parking, and you will be provided with a parking voucher. A continental breakfast will be available at 8:00 a.m., in the meeting room. Lunch will be from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., in the Regency Room. The meeting is scheduled to conclude at 3:30 p.m., and casual attire is suggested. For your information, I am forwarding copy of the proposed agenda. Sincerely, Mary F. Roanoke, Virginia 24014 Dear Mayor Smith, This is in response to your questions related to School debt service expenditures during our Financial Planning work session, March 10, 2001. You asked if we could provide in one financial statement, the total cost of operating our School system. The enclosed Exhibit 2 ,for June 30, 2000, accomplishes your request. The City paid, on behalf of the Schools for F¥2000, $1,785,947 debt service (principal and interest). The School fund provided $3,121,726 debt service. Total debt service was $4,907,673 (Principal of $2,554,362 and Interest of $2,353,311). Also, enclosed is the June 30, 2000 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) of the School Board, which is published annually by the School Administration.
